  • Update: Numbers are right, but cannot find my feet in it Sep 1, 2017

    By snorkfire
Okay, in the last year StockWatch lost its charts after the Yahoo takeover and the developer is missing in action. So, despite the lack of a chart in the main portfolio view, the charts at least work. So, now this is the better of the two apps, with the caveat of this being a pay to play for the real version and it being a bit of a voyage to get to each chart. Original Review: It just seems to be a confused design. I can't see how to get good use from it. I don't find any advantage in it versus something like my most preferred StockWatch.

This app has basic functionality and I am impressed that the developer seems to actually read review comments so I am recommending the following improvements: - The circle/pie charts need to show all holdings in the portfolio and not just show 100% stock. As they are now, they are not helpful to show distribution of holdings. - The Summary roll-up needs to show the percent holding of each of the portfolios. This is critical for tracking distribution and checking to see when re-balancing might be needed. A circle/pie chart at the summary level would be a nice feature to illustrate the percentage of each portfolio. - If the stock being tracked is a mutual fund, the dollar amount listed under "Today's profit" should not reflect yesterday's profit. The amount should be zero or a comment saying "waiting for market close." - News alerts are hard to decipher. This may be a formatting issue. Also many of the alerts seem to not be applicable to any of the holding in my portfolios. - Need charts for mutual funds - Kind of cool that stock charts show continuous (after hour) trades but please format the 5 day chart to make it easier to see the start and end of trading for each day. - Would be nice if the summary page also listed the major stock indices so one can gauge the market and/or make comparisons between portfolios and market performance.

I have found the Active Portfolio to be a great tool for managing my investments. I am retired and manage my own portfolio. The TA and FA scores have been very predictive based on my experience. I had contacted the developers about adding a ranking of the TA and FA scores by high to low or low to high scores. It was just added and a great improvement. I was very impressed that input was considered and acted upon if it makes sense. So thanks for the great app. I have started investing using a robo broker with the concept of investment pies (sectors). I have already started setting up my portfolios by each of the pies. It gives me significant quick analysis of every sector as measured by the individual stocks in the sector which I fully manage. A great tool for the cost annually (top level for me) and I have recommended to all my friends.

Absolutely the BEST portfolio tracking app I came across, I can track the regular stuff as well as OPTIONS AND BITCURRENCY. I can finally track all my different portfolios from different brokers and see a summary of it all! Download this app, you'll be happy! The only suggestions I have are enable the ability to upgrade within the app, add alerts both for percentage gain/loss and/or price, ability to delete/edit portfolio names, and make a summary widget. This deserves 5 stars none-the-less!
  • Good alternative to Bloomberg Dec 31, 2020

Like other reviewers I switched to this app after Bloomberg released a Dec 2016 'upgrade' and ruined their excellent mobile app, particularly the Watchlist function which was a primary reason for using the app. This is an excellent substitute and keeps track of my portfolios very well. A suggestion is to add a one-screen summary of each portfolio with one line for each holding showing daily changes, etc -- exactly as Bloomberg had. This would allow a quick overview of holdings. If you need more detail then you could drill down to an individual stock. It will make a good app even better. This is not a complaint only a suggestion -- there are so many great features in this app. Congratulations to the team that created it.

I have 9 portfolios to track and this app does it just fine. I had been a fan of Yahoo Finance but when they made a move to start charging the system somehow fouled up I could not get it working again. This one works just fine, it is easy to modify a position, easy to add a new portfolio, and updates quickly. Perhaps the best aspect is the support. Recently I changed iPads and ran into problems. I got several emails that assisted me right through that. Yahoo Finance has none of that in my experience. So for functionality and real support when you need it, this is the one. I have recommended this to quite a few friends and they like it too.

The app was extremely useful until today when I noticed the total value was off. The values of one holding were not shown in the app, and even after completely restarting the app, the values were not present. This happened randomly to numerous holdings throughout the day, and I will be giving the app a rest until this is repaired. Also, following the review of someone else, I agree that mutual funds should only show daily gain after they post their nav end of day. Having the individual stockholdings within a pie chart would look much more aesthetic than the current as well. Also wondering if there is any feature which compensates for interest on cash positions and dividends on various other investments as well as an implementation for reinvestment.

I love this app. I use it to track all of my dividend stocks. I really enjoy The weighted portfolio chart is awsome. Very useful tool. I want to see this app allow more stocks on weighted chart. Currently only 10 are allowed all others are classified by other. Which makes the chart inaccurate. If we the consumer are using a portfolio app good chance we have more than 10 stocks. Still a very good app. I will continue to use and recommend but if I find another app with a better weighted portfolio option I may go there. Even if they changed the option to 20 or 25 stocks that would be great. I would even pay for this feature

Unfortunately this portfolio tracker does not allow you to manually enter stock or bond positions; therefore, there is no way to accurately track your actual portfolio if it contains “unusual” investments such as fixed income (bonds) or foreign exchange stocks. Basically you can manually add a position, but the app forces you to define the position by symbol (CUSIP not available). You can enter any symbol you want and assign a cost basis manually. But if the app doesn’t recognize your symbol there is no way to manually enter the current price, so there is no way to track total portfolio. Interestingly if you import from broker, the app will import symbols it doesn’t recognize (in my case, a bond) but it doesn’t import current market price. Maybe the premium features allow his but it’s not stated in the description.
  • Not what you want Aug 20, 2020

    By linear_circle
    1. The portfolio tracker is transaction based only. So if you buy 100 shares of XXX and then another 100 shares, you don’t see you own 200 shares. You only see 2 transactions of 100. So your portfolio will get very messy, very quickly. 2. You can’t rename portfolios. 3. No graphs to show profit/loss over time. 4. See (1). I mean, how can you not combine positions? That also mean that you can’t see average price unless you modify the original transaction. 5. This will cost up to $999/year for this less then basic app. 6. You will be upset you wasted time and money on this. Response to developer: I did try it. I entered some of my accounts and gave it a shot. That’s how I found out about is serious shortcomings. And the $999 is from the iTunes subscription page. So there is a $999 paywall to some features.
  • Same old problems Apr 22, 2020

I have used this app for about 1.5 years or so. I get daily updates for my mutual funds and they are almost always wrong. The stock market will take a dive but the daily updates indicate my mutual funds are up. After about 5 pm, the final numbers are correct, but the updates are still wrong. Today, the update reported about $500 profit in fact it was a $500 loss. Just a little annoying. An update at least 6 months later. Same problem. Today I get a finance update showing I gained 1.55 percent today. I go into my portfolio and it shows down 2.85 percent. The uptick should be correct. This program is for entertainment purposes only and cannot be relied upon.
  • Does not work Jan 16, 2019

    By Hem/OncDoc
For approximately one month now some mutual fund closing have been inaccurate or are randomly entirely absent resulting in an investment with a zero total value. I have emailed technical support several times about these issues and lately have not gotten any response as to when this issue will be fixed. Useless, as it is currently working. Do not waste your money, you will not get accurate results. Especially disappointing since it used to work properly. Company does not seem to care anymore! If you are serious about keeping track of your investments, this program is currently incapable of accomplishing that goal.
  • Completely inaccurate Jun 10, 2017

    By V1.6rglo
When I open this app four hours after market closing, I get completely inaccurate readings. My balance is off by five or six hundred dollars, not all of the stocks have a day change amount just a zero. I can go back a few minutes later and get a completely different result. I never know if profit or loss amounts are accurate because they change constantly hours after the market has closed. I have this app on several different devices and each one has a different result. This app used to work but not now. Very disappointed.
  • They MAKE you upgrade or you can’t update your portfolio May 15, 2018

    By Bonnie*O
Complete waste. After a fairly short period they make you upgrade to add any new stock purchases. I contribute regularly to my 401K. I would like to track it. This was not disclosed when I initially started using. Good Luck. I don’t want any annual subscription or monthly payment. I will look for a program that I can purchase upfront low cost purchase compared to a sneak charge after a few months.

This app was great until last week when I tried to add another account. At that time, I was asked to pay a monthly charge to continue. I am looking for a simple way to keep up with all my investments in one place, and this was it. Now I’m supposed to pay monthly for the privilege? I would be happy to pay more up front. I’m looking for more options on the App Store.

The product is good if you have one machine. I have multiple machines and I want to backup and restore my accounts between machines. It has always been a problem and their support asks you questions which I answer but never come up with a fix. If you only have one computer that tracks the data this is a great solution. If you want to share your accounts between multiple devices and you are willing to re-enter all your accounts on each device again it’s great. Unfortunately if you have a lot of accounts and you want to view the information on your tablet, computer and phone and you don’t want to add the updates to every device this is not a good solution. The bummer is they have backup and restore it just doesn’t work.

My needs are simple, I needed an app just to track my portfolio of stocks. Simple to update changes to the portfolio when needed. This will show weighted graphs on my stocks which is also helpful. Other features are available which I seldom use. The only thing I would change : you are limited to 2 portfolios. It would be helpful if the limit was increased to 4 Agreed. I appreciate your app and your effort. Thanks

I like the app very much and will continue being a premium subscriber if we can correct this problem.

I have used the app for several months and I have found it to be useful. I would like to see a date purchased along with the total gain which is displayed. So far I am liking this app and I’m considering buying it. It will be the first app I ever bought. Do you have the ability to add fractional shares, slices, into the portfolio in your premium? A lot of people including myself are starting to use fractional shares or share slices depending on what platform is being used. Is this something you are doing or have?

App is very helpful in tracking individual portfolios and totaling. It would be helpful if the summary pie chart showed allocations and with more detail (Cash, large, mid, small cap, re, comm, em, etc.) Also, if the portfolio summary view could gather all same holdings in various portfolios and identify where they are housed, that would be a tremendous help.

This is one of the best apps I've found for tracking your portfolio's daily balance. It only goes to two decimal places which is silly, but overall I like that I can plug my mutual fund holdings in here and see the over all value and changes on a daily basis.

If you have more than two portfolios to track (and I do) you need to upgrade to premium to add them. If all you want is current net worth across portfolios you get that. I can’t seem to get any kind of chart over time of net worth or for individual portfolios. It gets annoying to click on menu items and get “You need to upgrade to get this feature”. I’d rather have the unavailable items marked in a way that you can tell they require an upgrade BEFORE you click on them. I’ve pretty much given up on clicking on unfamiliar menu items.

I started this portfolio watch several years ago. First the did not allow me to have further positions. Now even after I deleted another position I can’t add a replacement. The price they are charging now is just not worth it. Very disappointed with their approach. It is just a fair web site at best.

It does everything I want, is simple, and easy to learn. Edited: they spring the paywall on you without notice and there are no clear instructions on what you can and can't do until time runs out. $2.99 a month is expensive to do what my brokers tool does for free.

This app works ok most of the time but every few days my etfs show no value. This reduces my total value of investments significantly. Tried reload a few times but no success. If this can’t be corrected I will look for a more consistent and accurate app. Thank you.
  • Good app but needs improvement Dec 4, 2019

    By Marcartel
I wish the app didn’t have to refresh all the time. They shouldve made it to it be live and see quotes of my stocks changing during trading hours. Also wish they automatically calculated dividends of stocks you hold from the time you held it. Nonetheless its okay

I’ve used Portfolio for about a week. I find it marginally useful and very annoying. The app sends incessant notices to me about my Portfolio. I find these distracting and annoying, and can find no way to turn them off. I have decided to delete it and look elsewhere.

Ads cover the functionality, cannot add stocks because field is covered by ad
  • Could be great but falls short Jun 20, 2018

  • Same old problems Apr 22, 2020

    By weltingaway

Just got this app and was excited to see that I could download my fidelity portfolio. After trying for two days, all I get is “Network error. Please try again later.“ Tried to contact vendor as to whether this was a known issue. Did not get a response. This app seems to be loaded down with bells and whistles, but comes up short on the basics.
  • Worked good for me for about 2 years Aug 10, 2020

    By Seaford1
I have used this app for a little over 2 years and it worked great. I would look every day to see how my portfolio was doing. Now it will not track my money market accounts. It used to display their value but now some time it does most of the time it doesn’t. Time to find one that tracts money market accounts.
  • Wish the portfolio wouldn’t shift shares! Oct 2, 2020

    By Danyo2
When it works it’s a great tool. Unfortunately the program will change and report the share price from one stock to another and skew the totals. Have considered the premium but find the free one too unreliable to pay for more because I don’t have the confidence that it won’t mix up the stocks there as well.
  • Good app but spammed with alerts Feb 6, 2020

    By Chesterfield zxxv
I've liked this app in the past but lately I’ve been getting nonstop spammed with notification alerts - some useful but most are not. We are talking 20 or so a day. Unable to filter them no matter how I toggle the settings so eventually had to turn them off completely 😖 please fix this

Seems like every time I get my portfolio up my entries have changed and my information is grossly incorrect. I have HBLIX as a mutual fund. Why has information been eliminated? You asked for a review yesterday and there has been no response to my above concerns. I would like to keep this app but the numbers don’t correspond to the chart amounts.

Unable to track some Fidelity target fund date positions. Also, the constant ads within updates (ie the daily portfolio update comes with an ad to upgrade even though I already subscribe to the monthly payment option) is so over the top!

  • What happened?! Jul 31, 2018

    By d-kic
After looking at many portfolio trackers, I really liked this one. I’ve had it about two years. But today I went to change and add holdings and it won’t let me unless I subscribe and pay. Thanks, but no thanks. I thought this was supposed to be a free app! Ok, I read the developer’s comment and deleted several extra portfolios to keep it on the “free app” range. But apparently free means “one”, so this app is no longer useful to me. Will be deleting.

I have been using this site for a couple of years, and whenever there was a problem, the response was quick and to the point. For the past few weeks, I have been trying to modify my accounts but the screen freezes up whenever I hit the date and no changes are made. Very disappointed.
  • The app dumps your keyboard on every open Dec 4, 2020

    By Steel Brain
The app is otherwise fine, shows you your stocks etc. what’s not fine is that every single time that you open the app, iOS notifies you that the app has dumped your clipboard content. It can include passwords, or emails. The app doesn’t do this in response to any action, it does it as soon as you open it.
  • Inaccurate portfolio value notifications Sep 8, 2019

    By AG8789
I keep getting notifications with inaccurate totals. I have addressed this issue in the past but it was never resolved. Also when I get the notifications that my portfolio has gained an inaccurate amount I cannot find that notification in the App. I am seriously considering cancelling my premium subscription.
